We are all aware of the current climate crisis, especially in Bangladesh.Our relationship with the environment is deteriorating day by day and we are realizing how terrible its consequences are especially now that Dhaka is losing $6 billion worth of labor productivity annually due to the heat stress of extreme temperatures.
Bangladesh loses 7 billion working hours a year due to excessive heat. This number will increase to 10 percent by 2050 if measures are not taken to reduce global warming. One of the reasons for this is needing more trees and deforestation. And the city has less than 8 percent of the required 25 percent trees.
As a citizen, it is our responsibility to plant 2 trees, but everyone is busy in this city, so even if we want to spend time and money to plant trees, we do not have that opportunity. But we want every citizen of the country, especially city dwellers, to plant enough trees. That will fulfill our needs.
We are organizing a tree-planting event that aims to involve members of our community in the noble cause of reforestation. The event will be open to the public, offering individuals the chance to plant trees free of charge.
